About

Matt first came to ASHA in 2021, with very little plan and a tent. He spent three months on the land that summer, carving a sleeping spot out of the wild overgrowth next to what is now the glamping village, and didn't yet know those three months would set the direction for everything that followed. That is the strange thing about showing up somewhere in service with your whole self: things tend to clarify.

He had found breathwork the year before, during lockdown, in a small room far from any of this. It opened something. He went on to train as a facilitator with Anthony Abbagnano, and the thread quietly pulled him toward Tuscany, toward the community here, and toward the work of helping other people find their own way in.

These days Matt writes ASHA's letters from the land and runs Teagůe Studio, a small creative studio he keeps with his sister Rebecca, working with practitioners and retreat leaders on the words and design that carry their work into the world. His own writing tends toward the grounded and the unhurried: short paragraphs, a little dryness, an interest in what is actually happening rather than what it is supposed to mean. He writes about breath, body, belonging, and the ordinary practice of paying attention, usually with cypress trees somewhere in view and an afternoon siesta pending.

If something he writes stirs a quieter knowing in you, the kind that's easy to talk yourself out of, he'd suggest letting it stay a moment longer than usual.
